I have burned 2 discs now with a mate doing 1 but they all will not work?
The audio disc I did would only work in my Mico
Has anyone else had any problems with them?

Some DVD players will not play CD-Rs, its down to the frequence of the lazer. No way around it unfortunately, but some that won`t will play CD-RW discs.
RE: Vivastar 80 min CD-R Problems!
You misunderstand, It is the discs that are faulty. Only one of the audio discs will work on my Mico DVD player and not on any of my other 4 CD players I have.
I was asking if anybody else has had a problem with these discs or is it only me?
RE: Vivastar 80 min CD-R Problems!
Funnily enough, I have just burned one tonight (I bought a batch from buy.com). It was burned 12x on my TDK CyClone. And plays fine on my Marantz CD and in the car.
There doesn`t appear to be a fundamental problem. Maybe you got a bad batch?
RE: Vivastar 80 min CD-R Problems!
Hi Briley,
Dont know if this`ll help or is relevant to your question, but only 74minute discs are recommended in any CD reader, as they and only they, conform to orange/red book standards laid out by Philips.
Its always a lottery as to whether equipment will play 80 mins.
Are you certain they are being recorded properly? Some burners fail to report errors in the writing process!
Most burners still have problems at the best of times..
Nice to see our Mico will read at least one of them!
Mico Rocks for 80 minutes!!!

RE: Vivastar 80 min CD-R Problems!
Me and a mate got them from buy.com (110 with £30 voucher worked out at under 30p each!)
I have never had any problems with 80min discs before
No errors come up with Nero
I have 55 and have only tried 3 from different boxes
Bad batch? Maybe its my Writer ( Mitsumi 4802TE)

RE: Vivastar 80 min CD-R Problems!
SNAP - Briley thats my writer too. Cheap but a SUPERB! 8x4x2
We like buying cheap`n cheerful, dont we? Was it you who had the Aiwa hifi?
Rich Hitachi owners will never know how much fun us guys can have on a budget!!!
Have you got the latest firmware for your burner? Mines 1.4D with DMA "OFF"
I have never tried burning an 80min, so cant help you. Nero states something like 76mins is really the top for a lot of 80min writers anyway!
DID U KNOW?: The latest Mitsumi can write 99min discs.
Sorry I cant help a fellow MiCOn.
Mico/Mitsumi/Aiwa ROCKS YOUR SOCKS OFF!!!

Snap! Yes, We seem to go for the cheap stuff. As a Part-time Postman I cant afford to splash out like some people.
I got the Mitsumi from Office world for £99.99 delivered. The firmware I have is 2.1D. Have you had any problems with RW discs? A mate has the same drive and sent to Mitsumi in Germany to be repaired.
I have the Aiwa NSX-AV95 Pro-Logic which was listed as £500, for £232 delivered from London!
Keep the bargains coming!!
RE: Vivastar 80 min CD-R Problems!
As a full-time layabout I concur. Cheap doesnt necessarily mean bad.
I have found the opposite quite often true.
I bought my Mitsumi a year ago for £104 from Dabs, I think.
I`d had 3 Ricoh`s another 3 Yamahas and countless numbers of Philips that all went back. The cheapest turned out to be the most reliable.
Never a bit error and I must have burned over 200 discs. Mitsumi peripherals are found in more PC systems than any other make.
Reliability is therefore essential.
My Aiwa is an NSX-S707 (200W - I think) standard Stereo surround sound with some digital gimmicks. It cost £205 from www.hed.co.uk when they were a good company interested in budget bargains.
With the speakers positioned towards the floor the bass is immense. Aiwa Rocks!!! And like the Mico had dual karaoke inputs!!!
My Aiwa is my most treasured belonging. Like the Mitsumi, it has never let me down! My Hitachi videocamera/portable recorder is another story!
That was £800 of pure sh*t. Thats why old "rusty-puke" doesnt impress me with his tall stories.
The mitsumi never never has a problem writing anything. I`ve used Memorex/Philips/Ricoh/Princo CDRW and TDK/Kodak/Fuji/Samsung Silver CDR.
Samsung CDR Rock big time. I get about 14x read with my DVD-ROM.
If the Mico will do MiniDVD then this is the media to test it on.
I`m still experimenting with miniDVD but it will probably be a fruitless venture.
Princo CDRW are the best I`ve come across and cheap too at 80p each.
http://www.cd-rmedia.co.uk/princocdrw.htm
They also hold the most data: 336,599 blocks 689,354,752 bytes.
That should guarantee they can back up any 74min CD.
Also princo GUARANTEE they will work in any rewriter! Who else does that?
I HAVE NEVER TRIED 80min, but read the Mitsumi can do these.
Aiwa/Mitsumi/Mico - Theyre all bargains, without which I`d be a VERY angry man when I consider the rest of the crap I`ve bought. Thank you!

Does an Aiwa NSX-AV90 5 Spk Pro-Logic qualify for membership of the (BBC) Budget Buyers Club. I got it from catalogue surplus (GUS) plus a staff discount approx £230 can`t remember.
Cyberhome budget DVD player too. Bush 14" budget tele and also Sanyo budget Nicam video also from GUS CS.
I bought a 50 pack of Memorex 700MB 80Min Memorex CDR from Jungle £25.
I have access to a HP 8100 CD Re-writer care of Work. I read at http://www.cdmediaworld.com/hardware/cdrom/cd_cd-r80.shtml that HP and SONY don`t and won`t support 80Min CD because it is not part of the standard.
I have recorded on them using Adaptec EASY CD in DA format, but not beyond 74Mins (HP Drive only shows 74 mins free) and they play back on anything I have tried, DVD and CD players. I did back up a Data CD above 650MB and it worked OK ! Who needs standards ;-)
Budget Buying Rocks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well it saves you money :-)
