Adverts on ITV are reaching critical mass!
This is bloody ridicolous. Watching Star wars on ITV (Luke likes it and there`s naff all else on). It started at 16.30, and by 16.50 it was on the second commercial break. It`s now 17.25 and it`s mid-4th break. I would complain to Ofcom, but the bloody websites down for maintenace.
I know it`s xmas, and they want to squeeze every penny out of us poor saps but this is f***ing ludicrous

RE: Adverts on ITV are reaching critical mass!
I noticed now that Sky get 3 lots of adverts in an episode of the Simpsons. In that case you`re not getting any more actual adverts but it`s annoying having to hit the ffwd button an extra time :(

It`s going to get worse, not better. Was reading on the BBC site today that ITV and the like are strapped for cash and they will be allowed to advertise at the same frequency as the US channels in the near future...

Won`t that just persuade more ppl to
a) use PVRs
b) download
we don`t watch anything when it`s on TV any more, we record and watch later, ffwd through the adverts, means you can fit an extra program or 2 in in an evening.
It`s odd at work ppl will say "you know that advert where", and I just say no, I don`t watch adverts. But maybe that`s also cos we`re selective about what we watch. We don`t just sit in front of the TV to watch TV, we sit in front of the tv to watch specific programs we like.
hopefully they won`t work out a way to stop ppl skipping through adverts!
I think I heard another thing they`ve tried is put in more frequent advert breaks, but only put 1 or 2 adverts in each break, so ppl will find it too much hassle to ffwd just a few minutes.
I suppose soon in UK we`ll get more of those banner adverts, not just advertising what`s coming next but for the dvd boxset of the previous series of the show you`re watching :(

I`m the same, I never watch live TV unless it`s either Question Time or This Week as there`s no ads on either. Sky+ is a fantastic invention.
As for banner ads, seeing some of those already on channels like Hallmark so it probably won`t take too long before they spread further...

I am the same, couldnt tell you the last thing I watched on ITV "live" if you will (especially since STV stopped a lot of shows) and the things they have changed to increase revenue will eventually be the cause of their downfall which will help no one :(
RE: Adverts on ITV are reaching critical mass!
errrr......who watches ITV? :o
RE: Adverts on ITV are reaching critical mass!
You need sky+ or some other means to fast forward now, I never watch a show live because of adverts.
Also during adverts the sound goes through the roof, i thought this was to be sorted, as there has been many compaints about this.
As for USA period of advertising, if this happens l, the ITV is finished with viewers.
Last year I watched an old star trek episode on holiday in Orlando, and it was 5 minutes show, then 5 minutes adverts, etc, I turned the TV off.
RE: Adverts on ITV are reaching critical mass!
Everything I watch is Sky+`d and when the family watch stuff while I`m out they usually use live pause as I constantly have to exit it when I get in.
I can`t even stand the bloody channel idents in the corner.

Every Third Car
I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary
RE: Adverts on ITV are reaching critical mass!
I also rarely watch live tv because of the adverts. Sky+ and V+ for me. Have you ever noticed when you watch a downloaded programme (so I am told) the programmes average running time is 40 mins.
