Can someone identify this film....
I remember seeing it about `82 (may have been a tv movie) about a cruise liner that had capsised.
It turns out that there were 2 huge air pockets and people had been living inside the sunken ship for years (I don`t know why they didn`t try to get out).
One set of people were quite civilised whereas the other had turned feral but they didn`t know about each other, until.....
It was a bit like `Lord of the Flies` except under water.

I think the film you`re looking for is `Goliath Awaits`
It was a TV Movie made in 1981 starring Christopher Lee & Mark Harmon about the passenger liner "Goliath" which is sunk by a German atack during World War II. Portions of the ship`s hull remain airtight, and some of the passengers and crew survive. Over the decades, they build an isolated, rigidly regulated world, completely isolated from the surface world until contemporary times when a diving team begins to explore the wreck.

Hope this is the one you wanted!

Thanks.
That`s the one. I`m impressed as I have wanted to know the name of that for years.
errrr...where does all the air come from?! Pockets of air can only last so long!
Apart from that the film sounds excellent :-)

If memory serves, they get fresh oxygen from the electrolysis of distilled brine (distillation removes the sodium chloride as salt) and electrolysis gives Hydrogen which can be used as fuel, and Oxygen with no waste or by-products.
...and I think they ate some sort of seaweed or kelp.
It`s a long time since I`ve seen this film, but I remember it being quite enjoyable.
