Is the GameBoy Advance worth buying?
Hi everyone. Now the GBA`s dropped in price, i`m considering getting one, but before I do, I`d like to know what people think of it. Basically, is it any good, are there many good games for it, what sort of accessories do you need for it, whats the battery life like etc? Also, does the machine have an issue with a dark screen? The thread on the flippy-light jobber got me to thinking about that. Oh, and one more thing - how expensive are the games. Or to put it another way, are there any places you can get them cheaper?
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Billybongo

The batteries last for donkey`s years, I cna get at least 25 - 30 hours out of it easily. Is it worth getting? Yes, considering that it`s 1/3 off now and the old gameboy lasted 10 years, this is a very good investment. Gamers are good, it`s basically a SNES on the move, and where would you play it? On the Train? Lunch break? Anywhere really
The screen isn`t that much of a problem, I have 2 different kind of light that I don`t use anymore. I find natual light is still the best source of light and is perfectly fine under a 100W light bulb in a room. The speaker on it is a bit naff though, get a pair of good headphones and you are all set.

Thanks for the info Raymond - looks like i`ll get one then!
WHSmiths are doing 3 games for the price of 2 at the moment. Get yourself Advance Wars, Mario Kart and Golden Sun and you`re sorted. Enjoy.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I have to admit that after my initial rash commital to buying a GBA, i`ve had second thoughts. Basically, its the price of the games thats putting me off. The hardware may only be 60 quid, but with the games seemingly costing £30 almost universally, well, its maybe not such a good idea....
Thanks again everyone. Doubtless this will have been a help to many others aswell.

Just a wee follow to Wad`s post re games for the GBA....Golden Sun is amazing. I bought it at the weekend and have already clocked up about 8 1/2 hours on it. Think Final Fantasy on a hand held and you`ve got the idea. Not owning a GBA means that you can`t play Golden Sun. Not owning Golden Sun means that you`re missing out on a fantastic game that`ll have you hooked from the beginning.
The choice is yours........
