So, by 2014 ISPs apparently should be filtering porn by default:

And apparently, porn is estimated to be 30% of internet traffic, or more depending on what you read, though quite how anyone measures this I don't know, personally I find these stats really dubious:

The only way I think porn could be that much of internet use, is one third of people are browsing it all of the time. I'm sure there are a few people who do, but one in three internet users?

It makes more sense to me that YouTube, iPlayer and bittorrent take up the most of the web traffic.

I used to think nothing should be blocked, ever, but freedom is like anything in life - best served in moderation. There`s always somebody who will go nuts and spoil things for the rest of us. There are some very dark places on the web, serving some genuinely evil people. I don`t particularly worry about kids inadvertently accessing this stuff, more about it encouraging other adults.

Totally this. TPB is blocked by my ISP and I access that every day. Every time something like this hits the news is just makes it more abundantly clear that the people making the laws about the internet have not a clue as to how it really works

I don't think my ISP should block anything, however I'm quite happy for them to block porn providing there is an easy option to disable it, and I'm quite happy for that to default to on.

And actually, there are far worse things on the internet than porn. I'm quite happy to see none of it, but then for some reason I seem to inhabit a different internet from The Daily Mail, you know the one they are on, the one that thrusts child porn sites at you at every turn. Never seen any link to that sort of thing, so I figure you have to go looking to find it.

Though tbh I do kind of see people's point when they say it won't make much difference. Google safe search pretty much protects you from anything horrible anyway, and if you are smart enough to work out how to change that then you are probably smart enough to google how to get around any blocks.
