Region coding: 2 & 4. Will region code 4 discs work in region 2 players?
I have a Panasonic A160 Region 2 player (Not multi region), and recently seen "Cast Away" for cheap on the australion DVDCrave web site, and it said region 2,4. So I orderd it.
Got the DVD and in all the packaging it says region "4". No mention of region 2! But the disc still playes on my region 2 player!
How come?
Is it a region 2,4 disc labeled as just region 4? or do some/all region 4 discs work on region 2 players?
RE: Region coding: 2 & 4. Will region code 4 discs work in region 2 players?
The reason is......... because it is dual region ie. 2/4

Quite a few discs are labelled as R2/4 and work fine on an R2 player, some R4 labelled discs also work on R2, but check out reviews first unless you have a modded DVD player.
R4 Final Fantasy plays fine on an R2 machine but also doesn`t have the R2 labelling.
R4 Moulin Rouge will not play on an R2 machine unless it`s modified.
So you can see, some work, some don`t.

On the back of my lock stock and two smoking barrels dvd case it says region code pal 2+4 but it doesnt play when my dvd player is set to region 4 and dvd genie says this disk can be played on region 2 only.
So why does it say 2+4 when its 2 only

The Ab Fab Series 1 to 3 all say R2 and R4, but Series 3 is R2 only. And the box for Fistful Of Dollars says it is anamorphic when it is not. The labelling on boxes cannot be relied on.
