Lord of the Rings, am I the only one who thought it was cr*p?
Controversial topic I know but why do people like this film so much?
I did not spend my youth reading Tolkien so maybe I missed something.
Most people who saw it had probably read the books so knew what to expect and probably weren`t dissapointed.
However to the uninitiated like myself, I just wanted to be entertained.
But i left the cinema thinking "was that it?". I found it too long, boring and it had too many special effects.
Why do we have to have another two films, couldn`t all three have been condensed into one?
Someone must agree with me?

RE: Lord of the Rings, am I the only one who thought it was cr*p?
Oh well, can`t please everyone...i thought Lord of the ring`s was excellent, best movie i`ve ever seen.
I left the cinema happy i had seen it and i can`t wait to go back and see number two.
Can i ask what film`s do you like?, each to their own :o)

A mate at work didn`t like it either, but then again he does suffer from a lack of imagination so it wasn`t totally unexpected, each to their own I suppose, if we all liked the same things it would be very boring .... or we`d be living like those poor sods in THX 1138 ..........
I for one thought it was superb but then again I`m a fantasy fan anyway and for someone who has read the books 4 times I thought they did a pretty good job of it......
Rates a score of 9.0 out of 10 at IMDB site with 53945 votes so it can`t be all that bad I doubt......

Of course you can.
I have an eclectic taste. Stuff I`ve bought recently include Chasing Amy, In the Mood For Love, Shaolin Soccer, Battle Royale etc.
All sorts from Hollywood blockbusters to your arty-farty foreign films.
I just think as a piece of film-making LOTR didn`t warrant all the hype and I could understand why it didn`t win any of the major Oscars.
Basically it just wasn`t good enough to win.

hey each to their own booby just dont tell me The Phantom Menace was better:P
RE: Lord of the Rings, am I the only one who thought it was cr*p?
I have to say i think the phantom menace was rubbish!, well that`s my opinion..but i do like the older starwars they were great :o)

The fact that it didn`t win the best film or best director oscar means nothing. I`ve just been to see a A Beautiful Mind and it was the most boring film I`ve ever seen. I had to do everything in my power to stop myself falling asleep. Their is no comparison whatsoever with this film and LOTR.
RE: Lord of the Rings, am I the only one who thought it was cr*p?
I was disappointed Lord of the ring`s didn`t win :o(
I think it is far the best film ever, but that`s just my opinion, i love fantasy
film`s.
Does Beautiful mind`s have Kate winslet in it???

I started to read the trilogy years ago but found it too boring. I loved `The Hobbit` - still do - but LOTR takes itself too seriously.
However, I really enjoyed the film. It has its flaws, but overall it is one of the best films I`ve seen for a while. I thought the special effects sequences were fantastic, they are where it really comes alive.
Has anyone heard any news about `Bored of the Rings` - apparently this famous LOTR p***-take is being filmed at the moment.

Thank God, I thought I was the only person who thought it was a load of cack! Too much fighting and not enough story, too many `cameo`s` and by far too long. Sick of listening to my friends/ workmates rabbiting on about `best film ever` and the like. I was thoroughly bored by half way and only sat through it all because I was designated driver!
In short - pants!!
