Anyone else have problems with watches/video clocks over the weekend?

roar349 (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 3rd April 2002, 16:39

A bit strange, changed my watch as usual over the weekend for BST. Mum was mucking about on Monday - April fools stuff, I thought she was being stupid as when I looked at the watch it said it was 31st March, same with the girlfriends watch, and the video recorder (no this wasn`t a cunning April Fools trick), was this some kind of bug, anyone else notice it/have an explanation?

Perhaps it was a glitch in the Matrix?

Every time the clocks shift I dutifully hand over my cheap £6 Argos digital watch over to a colleague who magically presses some buttons and rights it - I ain`t got a clue. Gawd help me if he leaves...

The other weird one was, I was on my PC at half past midnight : next time I deigned to look at the system clock, it was 2.30 am : the M$ clock actually shifted at 1am : shurely shome mishtake :-)

No, I think that`s right, Clayts - I`m not quite sure who decides this or why, but seemingly the "official" time when the clocks go forward or backward is 1am rather than midnight........ Certainly Saturday`s edition of the Telegraph said in the little section reminding you to put your clocks forward that BST came in at 1am and to adjust your clocks at that point. Go figure!

Yes, in the spring 1:00 -> 2:00 (and in the rest of Europe 2:00 -> 3:00 so the clocks change in sync) on the last Sunday in March. In the autumn 2:00 -> 1:00 (and similarly in the rest of Europe 3:00 -> 2:00) on the last Sunday in October. It used to be that 2:00 -> 3:00 and 3:00 -> 2:00 here, and not on the last Sundays, but that changed to (more or less!) the present times in 1981.

I really must leave the 1980s, you know...

Thanks for the reasoning, guys : thought I had seriously lot the plot :-)

I dutifully changed my watch, the time on my video (I still use it since it outputs stereo sound to my hi-fi...), my pc updated itself (only once this time, I think windows 95 used to do it more than once in certain circumstances...) and forgot about my phone.
So I set my alarm last night, and got up an hour late this morning and had to rush to catch the bus in to Glasgow to see Blade 2. Incidentally the film is better than I expected. The plot is patchy, there`s a lot of cheeiness in it. But the atmosphere is suitably dark, the violence is plentiful and slick. But I`m sure anyone else watching it will hate when the old guy (his name escapes me) throws Blade`s sunglasses to him. I just wish they could have made the film without the cheesy over the top stuff, and maybe a bit more believable, but then again, I knew it wouldn`t be, and I was quite happy to pay for it :)
