Page 1 of Question About Samsung-709 Multi Region Hack??

People that have done the remote (using the number code after pressing repeat) multi-region hack - is it reliable?

Cos i done it last night and i want to try it out but i`m not gonna go buying any other region discs unless i know they`ll work.

Thinking of buying a Region 3 version of The Gift on DVD for 10 euro but 1. It`s got NTSC encoding
2. Does Region 3 work after the hack?

Any help would be much appreciated?

Have had a Samsung 709 player with the region hack for the past two years working with no problems.

If you have any problems with either The Matrix or Something about Mary you most likely are running an old firmware.

I have only ever used Region 1 or 2 discs so can not comment about region 3...

It works with all regions. (Well, admittedly, I haven`t managed to obtain any Region 6 DVDs to try, but it certainly works for regions 1 to 5.)

Regarding the NTSC encoding, you won`t have any problems unless your TV is an old one which doesn`t sync to 60Hz - in which case, switch Quasi-PAL to OFF in the Setup menu and everything will be fine.
