Page 1 of Toshiba SD220E Multiregion DVD player HELP its in Black and White

hey i dont know if anyone can help, i have just bought a "multiregion" Toshiba SD220e from www.dvdplayers.co.uk. However they didnt mention that the Region 1 discs play in Black and White!!!

I can`t tell you all how much this is killing me. I have heard of these problems before with PS2. Can someone tell me why its doing it????

It`s that region 1 are NTSC.
Your TV is not NTSC compatable.

connect the player using a scart lead into AV1 on your TV and ensure that the player is setup to output RGB

When I posted this question elsewhere was told couldn`t get colour coz my TV wasn`t NTSC compatable.....I know different now.
also had to set PAL/Auto to Auto

it is because your TV isnt NTSC but by using RGB it doesnt matter about NTSC or PAL

Hello there Mr Wolf. I`ve just bought the Toshiba 220E (not multi-rigional though). Is there any chance you could email a copy of the disk you claim you have so I can convert my DVD player to Multi-Regional?

hi sorry to say i gave away this CD to someone lese having problems a week ago. I you have a cd burner and a copy of nero burn you can make it yourself.

If you want i can e-mail you this file.

Otherwise sorry you might try someone else

how does the disc work?

after all these requests heres the instructions for creating your own crack disc. If you want the files just e-mail me and i will send them.
Please read around the other forums though before asking questions which have been asked before!

Just follow these instructions to upgrade your toshiba sd220e.
done it on mine and it works great.

First decompress the files in your hard drive root
It is a Bin/Cue file.
I burned it fine with Nero 5.5.9.0 in DAO mode (TAO does not work)

Then with DVD upgrade!

1.)in the setup menu,select "picture", pal/auto and select "auto".

2.)put the upgrade disc on the disc tray and close.

3.) SD 120E: disc error message is shown on fl display.
SD220E:loading message continues to appear on the fl display.the picture of vcd is displayed on the tv screen.

the upgrade.takes about 10 seconds. During upgrade you'll see strange things displayed on screen, don't worry.
Afeter the 10 seconds the strange displays will reamain on screen. Just eject the cd and turn off the DVD player.
Now your SD220E is region free! Enjoy!
