Hack Help Forum
I have followed the hack for multi region and it works fine. Apart from certain region 1 dvds will only play in black and white. Only problem I have with it is trying to play my backup dvds on it. I use a pioneer 105 and have been using neo premium 4x blank dvdr discs. They seem to work on all my other stand alone dvd players and my ps2 but not this one.
Anyone with any ideas or solutions, your help greatly appreciated.
P.S. Anyone know if the vcd hack will work.

RE: LG 5253 - DVDR Help
Unfortunately LG`s official answer to this is that the players do not support DVD-R, however there are some makes that I know work, I bought some TDK DVD-R`s and they worked fine but I think that not many (if any!) DVD+R`s work on the player....
yes i got the exact same problem. they playback in my ps2 and on my brothers player but not on my toshiba2109 or my lg5253 (plays o.k. but at the end of the film it starts skipping, strange!)
if anyone knows of a hack to cure this please post. thanks.
is this dvd player capable of reading dvd-r tidy at all with 2x writing?

I think that the problem lies in which burning software you use. I own an LG3350 and when I tried playing backup`s which were done using Nero- it simply didn`t work. Now I use Stomp RecordnowMAX- it has no problems- it will play it like it was an original disc.
Use dvd2one to transcode, then store all your VOBs,IFOs,BUPs etc into a file called VIDEO_TS and run Stomp and record it as a Data DVD.
It works for me- hopefully it`ll work for you too.
Have a good one
