LG 5000 and 6000 DVD Players Region File

All,

From my experience with the amount of e-mails I receive about the multi region disc every day, 90% of the Invalid ID errors occur where the user has created the disc in an incorrect UDF format. Make sure when you burn unzipped file that no structure of files/folders are changed and that you are NOT using the `drag and drop` burnning method (as found in XP) to the CD, you must use Nero or Adaptec or similar and `create` a data disc in JOILET MODE making sure the disc is `CLOSED` like you would with an audio CD. Hope this helps everybody and just for the record, The CD has been confirmed on ALL 5000 series Players including all the DA (home cinema) models (except the DA3520).

Unfortunately LG`s official answer to this is that the players do not support DVD-R, however there are some makes that I know work, I bought some TDK DVD-R`s and they worked fine but I think that not many (if any!) DVD+R`s work on the player....

The disc is the only way, LG were under obligation by the DVD forum to make it more (slightly) difficult to hack so that is what they came up with, no more or less risk. If it makes you feel any better, i`ve used the disk on every 5000 model and DA last year so I can assure you it works fine and in the rare case it doesn`t work it doesn`t affect the player at all.

You can copy non CCS DVD`s but there is no hack for macrovision, it comes with VCD enabled anyway (not SVCD) and you can multiregion it by creating a disc from the file at the following site:

you need to create a disc with the linked file and use it to flash the player, it works fine on all 5000 series players, there is NO handset hack for this model for multiregion, only VCD enable.

Go here and download the file, unzip it and burn it to a disc (remember to close the disc after or it won`t work) then you can put the disc in the player and set the region (0=all)

I`ve got one and its not a bad player at all, the VCR could be better i.e 6 head instead of 4 but the DVD is fine, it sounds good even in a large room too, it does play VCD without need of a hack but won`t play SVCD, you can multiregion it with the disc too from http://www.choosefirst.co.uk there is definately an optical in though for your x-box! and it does have component out which is a first for LG`s players! (if you`re TV has component in....?) price is good too.....
