Philips DVDR880......can anyone assist please

Hi
I have a Philips DVDR880 and a Pioneer DV525 (multi regioned and macro disabled)
Why cant I copy DVD to DVD recorder?
Also what way can i sucessfully multi region my DVDR880?
there seems to be many different answers to some of these question!

Yes there is many different answers to the same questions.

1st: The resson why you can`t record from your macro disabled Pioneer is simply due to CGSM/A <--Hope I got that right!
It is very different from Macrovision, which is only to stop you copying to a VCR. A DVD Recorder (as far as I`m aware) is not afected by Macrovision, but looks for a "Flag bit" in the video signal. If it is presant, it will NOT record, if it isn`t, it will.

You will need a CGSM/A striper. If you do a search on these forums, you will find many posts with links to sites which sell these.

The answer to your second question is yes! The Philips DVDR880 can be made multi-region using a simple remote hack. Check on this site for info.
