Hollow Man R1 doesn`t work on Wharfedale 750
I have just got hold of an R1 Hollow Man DVD. It`s the first title that`s failed to work on my Whafedale 750 (firmware version 1 I think). When loaded the region violation worldmap appears. All other R1 discs work fine including Perfect Storm, Toy Story 1&2, Gladiator, MI:2...
Is this due to the RCE thing - and if so, is there a work-round other than firmware updates?
Feedback appreciated...

Hollow man R1 is an RCE encoded disc.
There could be a work-around, but I`m not sure.
Check out other Wharfedale with RCE postings.

Go to www.dvdchips.co.uk
They sell a chips for £20.00 that you put into your Wharfedale 750 and it gets round the RCE problem. It so easy to do, it must be I did it.

Well Steve, your reputation is on the line (as is dvdchips). I`ve parted with the cash and the firmware arrived yesterday.
Tonight is firware upgrade night...

Dont make stupid mistake number one :)
People have been known to try to rehack the player after the firmware upgrade using an RCE disk instead of a proper Region 1 disk ... this does not work as the disk is not true region 1

Steve - if only I had the opportunity to make stupid mistake #1.
THE FIRMWARE DOESN`T WORK !
Swapped to the dvdchips E-PROM and the Warfey fails to `boot up`.
Yes, it is in the right way round
Yes, all the pins do sit in the socket
Yes, I did order the right firmware (according to the dvdchips website)
No, there wasn`t any sign of damage to the chip
Yes, I had `earthed` myself prior to starting the job and, luckily for me, putting the old firmware back in did bring my player back to life.
So, is this just a one-off faulty chip from dvdchips or do I just put this one down to experience and write off the $30 as my first duff purchase on the Internet?
Look forward to hearing from you Steve,
HH

I just love the name Harry Hedgehog. Hehehe. Sorry, I know that wasn`t relevant to the topic. But I like the name so much....
