Any particular reason why you don`t want to share the information here...

I have the LG5095 and used the hack for LG-5000 series DVD players, but it only plays VCDs and not SVCDs.

Yes, please share the hacks here : that`s really the whole idea of the Hacks Forum - to share information, rather than ask people to e-mail you (which I`m always a little bit suspicious of as it can sometimes result in the transfer of cash to the recipient, which of course is totally against the Forum rules).

SVCD hack for LG 5083 (also LGdc595nwq)

First do the vcd hack.

Then for SVCD do:

1 - Power up the dvd with no disc
2 - Press Pause and then press 1,4,7,2
3 - Press up arrow 6 times, the characters 07 00
should appear on the display, may be different for
your model
4 - Press Program 6, Program 5.
5 - Press Enter
6- Power off and power on the player

If your tv is pal and the picture is green or yellow
use the s-video output of the player, and please write
down all the prom values in case you need to restore
them.
Vcd hack as by other players.
1. Power on the player with no disc in the drive.
2. Press Pause on the remote control.
3. Using the remote control, key in the following: 1, 4, 7, 2 (the
characters 01 47 should appear on the display) [If your player is a non UK
model, this number will probably be different - don`t worry]
4. Press the UP arrow three times (the characters 04 Fd should appear on the
display)
[This number may be different depending on the configuration of your
specific model - don`t worry]
5. Press Program, 6, Program, 5 (the characters 04 FE should now be
displayed).
6. Press Enter (the display should flash briefly).
7. Press Return.
8. Power the player off and then back on.
9. Play a VCD!

LISTEN UP PEOPLE!

THE "FE" SVCD HACK IS WRONG !

TO AVOID THE GREEN SCREEN

CHANGE THE 7TH PROM VALUE TO "10"

with player on and no disk

press on remote :
pause
1
4
7
2
up x6
1
0
enter
pause

BIT 4 IN THE VALUE IS ALL THAT NEEDS TO BE SET!

IF YOU SET BIT 6 YOU GET GREEN SCREEN BECAUSE THIS ENABLES THE AMERICAN COLOUR SYSTEM! THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH A SCART TV!

THIS WILL ALSO MAKE THE PLAYER DEFAULT TO NTSC MODE.

remote problems after hack?

try reinserting scart lead at both ends. This happened to me before hacks were used.

Remove green NTSC on PAL TV after SVCD hack

This problem is connected to american component system, I think.

Anyway you have to unset bit 2 (decimal 4) in the 7th digit in the prom values.

In plain english
turn on the player - no disk

pause1472 on remote
press down 2 times
press program, 6, program 1, enter

should now show FA

really you can use any value that doesn`t have that bit set.

sorry folks it was that someone posted here and they were worried about using the hacks well mine works just fine so no worries ok.

Blonde in trouble! Dave wotsits instructions have not worked for me. Anyone else know how to resolve my problem?

I have followed Dave`s instructions but still have a green screen. I fear that I have now ruined my DVD player and very worried about it. I am not seeing any letters, merely numbers.

My original PROM OPTION WAS: 55 53 00 DC 12 55 00 00

I am not seeing any letters now, but:

PROM OPTION NOW: 55 53 00 65 12 55 10 00

(I also actioned the instructions to avoild the green screen).

From a very worried and upset blonde, Teri.............. :(
