Hack Help Forum
anyone got the hack for this player yet ?
I have just got an ALBA DVD55 and was looking for a region hack. I have not cracked it yet and from what I am reading it my not have a remote hack. what I can tell you is:
You are able to play region 1 dvds by pressing 1 repeatably while a new dvd is loading. However the Wrong Region message is On Screen and all dvd functions for example (skip, audio, angel, step, subtitles) - I haven`t got any RCE disks to play yet!
Some background:
The Player is using MediaTek Firmware, The common 1369/1379 remote hacks don`t work. I beleive that the functionality to change region has been removed or the new OSD has a bug. If you enter setup and move to the preferences menu and type 1369 a screen is displayed containing Version and Sub Version information (this is were you would normally use be able to change the region, but it ain`t there!). I know that other MediaTek Players are suffering the same problem, some manufacturers are giving firmware updates for the player. I have emailed the ALBA to find out if there is a hack or if they can supply firmware (BUT I WOULDN`T HOLD MY BREATH!)
NOTE: given what I have said some may attempt to use another manufacturers Firmware.....DONT IT WILL KILL YOUR PLAYER. FIRMWARE IS MODIFIED FOR EACH DVD PLAYER!
If anyone can add to this, your help would be most useful!
while in the prefrences menu try pressing 2812!!!!
Already tried that with no luck! but thanks for the suggestion!
>:( can find the multi-region code for my alba dvd55.
I have just received an email from ALBA Customer Care, please see below:
>:( These units are manufactured and sold as Region 2 players only.
We cannot recommend any ways of modifying the unit for multiregion as this will invalidate your guarantee and may cause irrepairable damage to your DVD player.
We do not hold any codes or further multi region information here.
Great Customer Service!!!! Well I have returned my player for a refund, but before I did I Iooked inside and well its not good news - the Processor is a MT1769GE the firmware has a bug and will not allow you to change the Region, some manufacters have provided firmware fixes but it don`t look good for ALBA Customers given the response I received. As the player was so cheap I took a chance by trying to load firmware from another player that uses the same chipset, it didn`t work, I burn`t 3 different disks using different media each time but the CD`s were not recognised!
:( Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
