Page 1 of philips 711 problem

Hi,
i locked up my 711 using the 25 count region code & stupidly sent it back to the shop to try & wangle a new one. Instead the told me to go f**k & scrambled the player.

Since then ive bought a one-for-all remote & got the player going again all regions however the scrambling has left the front lcd display lookin like something off predator, the on screen display all bodged & has locked me out of the screen menu. The sound is also knackered since it only works when u rig the player up to an amp so u dont get any sound comin out of the tv.

I tried writin in b4 but no1 had a clue, i was wondering if any1 had any new ideas, thanx

if you are the person who took their player back to Dixon`s (or was it curry`s?)..em....i think you`ll find that someone did have a clue!!!.....

You sent me an e-mail...to which i replied.telling you that they didn`t have a leg to stand on...and i asked you to provide me with details on what exactly they did.....but you never replied?.....

shame....I was looking froward to giving Dixons group a pain in the arse!...............

there`s also firmware available for download...it may be worth trying to upgrade your machine....you should download 7.12

i`ve already d/l the firmware & burnt it to a disk & that didn`t work, & none of ur codes worked either which is a tradegy.
The fact is Allan that although the fact that my plaer is annoying its not so bad that i want to start a full on legal battle with currys only to be proven wrong cause there was one line in the warranty giving them the right to scramble it if needs be.

Fair enough..if you wanna take it up the ring piece from Dixons group thats your perogative....

but don`t doubt what i say........

Curry`s returned your goods not in the condition you supplied them......this contradicts all consumer acts and they ARE liable.....not to mention cheeky as f**k.......

are you sure you`ve tried all the codes?.....i did think that it would at least solve the audio problem.....

you know...you can contact Philips about this....is your player still under manufacturers warranty?

the whole problem started when the thing went back to philips. The guy @ currys couldn`t fix it so he sent it to philips & they told him p*** off cause they knew we`d tampered with it since they`ve got a thing that can bring up the last x amount of dvds we`d watched & their region.

One of ur codes may have fixed the audio but to be honest that`s really the least of our worries, really we`d like the osd menu fixed & accessible & the lcd display going again. Is there a chance that the guy @ currys or philips or whereever actually modified the player itself not just the software ? That`s wot im starting to believe.

One last thing, currys may be liable & wot not but it all seems like far to much effort to go through legal preceedings when a mod chip or code could get it back to normal. & @ the end of the day it still plays dvds in all regions which is really wot i bought it 4.
