Page 1 of HACK NEEDED FOR GRUNDIG DVDR 550 RECORDER

DOES ANYONE HAVE A REGION HACK FOR THE GRUNDIG DVDR 550 RECORDER,AND WHICH BLANK DISCS ARE RECOMMENDED.

I had one of these in the Spring for a week or two. Got it as an exchange and it ended up being one. The reason was that I was not convinced it could read/play 4x discs. It was okay with discs like the Imation but when I got some Memorex 4x discs, they could not be read. Little bit of small print advised that firmware upgrade may be required. Don`t know if this was ever resolved but it frightened me

On the hack, the machine I had was region free out of the box. I didn`t use any codes to play some region 1 discs.
