Sony DVD S725 and Charlies Angels

Jim Leighton (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 24th April 2001, 15:36

I have a chipped Sony DVD S725 but cannot play any RCE encoded region 1 disks (all other r1`s are fine). I recently got Charlies Angels and cannot watch this film.

Has anybody any idea why not?

Hi Jim,

Check with whoever chipped your player if it can be switched to manual region selection and set it to region 1, then try playing Charlie`s Angels.

I had this problem with my Sony S335 and the RCE Region 1 Hollow Man disc but it was cured after setting the region manually. I found that after doing this I could put the deck back to auto-region selection and it continued to recognise the RCE discs as long as I didn`t turn the deck off at the mains.

Hope this helps.

Hi Doug,

I have the same prob with Charlies Angels on my Sony DVP505S
Which is Region "3"
It`s 3 years old and it came from HK, the dealer has gone bust...

It`s a bit of a long shot, but just how do you change the region setting manually (and back to auto-region) on your S335?

Br
