Page 1 of ADVENT 5480DVD LAPTOP

I maybe stupid but is there a region hack for this laptop? I`m quite new to dvd and to laptops so if anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful.

Hi thanks for replying. The make and model number of the dvd drive is "QSI DVD-ROM SDR-081 EUA1". I`d be eternally grateful if you could help.

Hi There,

For starters, with it being a laptop it may be harder to hack. If you download the following small utility it will tell you what type of DVD-ROM drive you have i.e. RPC-1 or RPC-2.

If it is RPC-1 then you won`t need an updated firmware, just DVD Genie to trick it. If it is RPC-2 then you will need an updated/hacked firmware and DVD Genie.

When you have found out let me know. Also, tell me what type of software you are using or whether you are using a hardware decoder.

Hi mate,
Thanks again for replying to the enquiry. I have now found out that the dvd player is RPC-2 and that it will need new firmware...but where to find it eludes me. The software installed is Power DVD and I am not using a hardware decoder.
Again, if you could help I would be most appreciated.
