Page 1 of Is Chipping safe?

I have a Philips DVD711 which I would like to make multi-region. I have been told that chipping is the only way to do this. Can this damage my machine and are there any alternatives?

Yes chipping is safe if done correctly but it will invalidate your gaurantee,
But chipping is not the only way to make your player multi region, you can get your player reprogramed for multi region. This will not invalidate your gaurantee.

It all depends on whom performs the upgrade. Most dealers will cover their work for 2-12 months, or you can have the machine reprogrammed. For example we cover our mods with a lifetime warranty.
