Page 1 of Phillips 701: Is ANYONE going to help me or is this beyond redemption????

I posted a message earlier saying that I could not understand the instructions to hack my Philllips701.

I have been trying to input the multi region hack for my Phillips 701 using the original remote (I don`t have a 0ne4all or similar). My remote is the one that is shown in the picture listing the various DVD`s
The instructions say to input the code RC6 (Codeset 4,key 235 in nerd speak)

Well I admit to being a total nerd as I have no idea what this is talking about.

Can anyone tell me how to do this using the remote I have, or what is meant by the above instruction

Please Help

READ ALLAN VERTH`S FAQ - It`s halfway down the page of topic posts in this very forum right now. Hard to find I know, under something like "ALL PHILLIPS DVD FAQ- MULTI REGION HACK". Cunning eh?

just sell your DVD and stick to VHS.......(mind you...timer recording can be a little tricky also)...

Sorry to here you having problems i also had the same poblems with my dvd but i have now done it here is how i did it.

follow all the steps given by Allan Verth makeing sure you have programmed your one for all to use the dvd put the dvd player one rather than leaving it on standby and enter the code 085 then it should bring up the screen to enable you to put the code in to make your player region 1 and 2 i hope this works let me know if it does good luck!

now......it may just be me....but i believe that to be THE most stupid problem with my ONEFORALL hack that i have encountered.......(the previous most stupid award going to the person who asked...."can i use my sky TV remote to hack my philips DVD?")

Have I offended other women out there....?.......I doubt it....i think geekiness is reserved for us boys and our toys......and forums are just one step nearer "nerdville"...(so my fiancee tells me).....so don`t expect hundreds of women to be offended by my comment.....coz i doubt that any are even reading this

Unfortunately none of them actually addressed the question I asked, which was `Can I use the remote I got with the DVD or do I have to buy a One4All.`

Fortunately the link to Allan`s FAQ gave the answer in a round -about way by explaining how the hack works.

So the simple answer would have been; `No your original remote won`t work the hack` :-)

I will now either download the hack to Cd or go and buy a new remote.

I have a philips 701 and have performed the multi region hack on it with no problems at all since.
You will need to get yourself a one for all 4 remote to do this. The instructions on this site will become clear if you have one.
If you have any trouble getting hold of a remote, then I actually have a spare brand new one here if you would like to buy it.

Allan (Verth), guess you probably don`t care what anyone else thinks, but unfortunately for you, we`re not all cavemen who take every opportunity to have a dig at the opposite sex when they show some interest in technology. I worked with a guy who on being asked by myself if he EVER washed the dishes to help his wife out at home replied, "That`s womens` work". Now, i`m not saying he`s a bit sad (I`m thinking it though), but perhaps I could arrange for the two of you to meet and you could discuss/compare clubs/cave paintings etc!!!!
