although the general impression with Sony players ...is that most cannot be remote hacked for free...most, not all....and the only option on some is to pay.

some can be hacked using a One For All or similar type remote ...there are plenty of comments on Sony hacks of all types on this forum ...have a look.

NTSC Region 1 Sony models cannot be modified to all regions, not because of multiregion, but because they are single format NTSC only. You need a dual format PAL/NTSC machine (such as a UK/European R2 or Australian R4 model) before you can hack it for multiregion.
