Hack Help Forum
I have also been given an ALBA DVD70S. Help needed for multi region hack
I had a couple of these from the Daily Express (one was faulty and replaced) and they`re both multi-region out of the box.
Try this I just used it for my Ferguson ldvd70 and it worked
Found out the hack. This machine is the same as the Ferguson LDVD200 and the Tevion DVP7011 and the Audiovox D1708PK, all are 7" 16:9 Slim Line Portable DVD Players.
1) Open the DVD Door, on remote press Setup, Right, Right, Right (that's the arrows in the middle of remote)
2) Enter 9653,a service page will appear,
3) Use Up/Down Bottom to change region Codes
4) Set to 0 (zero) for multi-region
Hi did you get hack code for Alba 70s DVD player, if so would you let me have it, cheers

if not try this
Empty Tray
Press Setup
Press Next, Prev, Next, Prev.
Version appears on top right of screen.
Change to 255 using L+R button.
Turn off and back on
There are also suggestions that it is Region Free out of the box ...but as you are asking for the Hack this cannt be the case with yours .
let the forum know if any of them work ...or not
Happy Hacking

Hi fleng - I hope you are still around!
I haave one of these which too came from the Daily Express. I haven`t used it much but now need to establish whether I can play multi-region discs on it.
You say it is MR out of the box - does that mean that I don`t need to enter any hacks?
If i do have to enter hacks to get it play multi-region, what would i have to do if i wanted to return it to it`s factory state?
Folks
This Unit is Often Region Free out of the Box ...Have you tried it
Otherwise This is supposed to be the Hack
Turn Player On
Using Remote Control Press SetUp
Using Remote Control Press Next (Button with >>¦ on it)
Using Remote Control Press Previous (Button with ¦<< on it)
Using Remote Control Press Next (Button with >>¦ on it)
Using Remote Control Press Previous (Button with ¦<< on it)
Current Region appears On Screen
Using Remote Control Left & Right Buttons Change to Required Region ( 255 is Region Free)
(You may also Find These Options)
Using Remote Control Press Down
On Screen VER 3001 = Macrovison Enable
On Screen VER 3000 = Macrovison Disable
Using Remote Control Left & Right Buttons to Change
Using Remote Control Press Down Again
On Screen VER 5001 = VCD & SVCD Enable
On Screen VER 5000 = VCD & SVCD Disable
Using Remote Control Left & Right Buttons to Change
Using Remote Control Press SetUp
Using Remote Control Press SetUp Again
If You have to Return it to it`s factory State ..Just Re-Apply the Hack and undo any changes made.
Hope This Helps

You are obviously well into this sort of thing - I am afraid I am well behind your specialist ability. I am good at other things though!
I haven`t tried any hacks yet, but being a fairly logical thinker, I would like a backdoor or a bale out area out of this if there is one.
If the hack does not work or for any reason I need the machine to revert to it`s factory settings, I need to know how to return it back to ir`s former state - do you have an answer?
Also, I managed to get through on the ALBA technical line (after ages and ages), and the guy actually said that this particular machine is set up as Region 2. Evidently, since they are a UK registered company they are required by some strange copyright law to configure there machines as Region 2.
So what are these machines that are region free that you seem to know about?
How do I know if my machine is indeed region free - I do not own anything other than Region 2 commercially produced discs and this is my first venture into the unknown!
What I am fearful about is that I bugger up the machine I have got which is work fine and dandy for the other stuff!
I have a couple of DVD players that are quite old but very functional. When one breaks down I am prepared to buy another, but I am not going out to throw my money on something before my current equipment has expired.
I do not upgrade for the sake of it!
Do you see where I am coming from?
Please help as best you can.

There are Two Basic ways I can think of Checking If the Player is Region Free
Apply the Hack and if 255 Appears on Screen then it is Region Free or Buy / Borrow / Create a Different Region Disk and Try it ...although I would Guess the First option is the Cheapest.
The Hack is Completely Reversable when Applied ...You just Redo the Hack and Just Reverse any Changes you make....as I stated at the End of last Post (which I have Now Highlighted in Bold)
If the "Alba Guy" says it is Region 2 then it appears it is not Mult Region out of the Box...and if you want it to be Region Free you need to apply the Hack .
The Hack is a Common One to a lot of Players ...so the Risk of "Buggering Up" is very Small but as always Hacks are applied at your Own Risk
Your Call
Hope this Helps
