Proline 1000 - Help Please

Gary240968 (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 28th September 2000, 10:08

I bought a Proline 1000 at the weekend. I performed the hack and the region 1 disc went in and began to play. However it was in black and white.
Is this because I have not performed the hack correctly ( how are you supposed to know) or is it the disc? ( Fight Club )

Any help would be appreciated

Your TV can`t handle NTSC properly, need a new TV. :/

In a funny kind of way you helped. Most TV`s these days have two scart sockets, only one of mine is NTSC, which I was using for sky digital ( I didnt realise you needed that for region 1 - is this common knowledge to us technophobes)

I swapped over the scart leads and bingo , perfect.

Looking back at other discussions, other people may have had the same problem, they dont need a new TV , just a flick through the manual to see which Scart socket does what

Thanks for mentioning NTSC though, otherwise I would still be struggling

You have got your Player set to the TV system AUTO

See secion 5-6 of your manual.

Under selecting the type of disc for the type connected TV

Which basicly is :-

Stop the film. But leave it in the drive. Then press the "TV system" button on your remote it will say "AUTO NTSC PAL" on the top left of your TV select PAL to watch on a PAL TV. If you select AUTO it will play NTSC discs in NTSC i.e Black and White or PAL discs as PAL in Colour :-)

I think this machine works in the US as well, as the power supply is from 110 to 240 volts 50/60 hz. I wonder if the NTSC is pure 3.58?

Any way of finding out Robert?

I hope this helps.
