Page 1 of Philips dvdr70 codes.

Can anyone help me .
I have a PHILIPS DVD R 70 , i was given the code to change to multi-region . But it does not work.
Has anyone any ideas what else i can do....

First of all, make sure that there`s no disc in your player. After that, use the `system` button on your remote and change the `remote control used` from `DVD Recorder` to `DVD Player`. Store this change. Now press 159 on your Philips remote. The recorder display will change to eleven dashes. On your remote, press 121 212 005 255. The last few digits on screen will not show, but don`t worry. Once you`ve done that, press `play` and power down your recorder. Your system will now be region free. All that`s left for you to do is change the `remote control used` back from `DVD Player` to `DVD Recorder`. You must do all of this without a disc in your machine.

Have tried that , but is still comes up "wrong region" when i put a region 1 disc .

Have you tried it with the latest firmware installed, you can get it off the official philips website so you know its good .......www.p4c.philips.com

Hi, I just downloaded the firmware, which was easy enough. Now I am trying to follow the instructions to put in the code. (no disc in machine)

I change the remote to `DVD player`.
I press OK - so far so good...

If I enter the code (with the menu bar still on screen) - 159 - nothing happens.
If I press `menu` button to get rid of the menu bar, when I press 159 it just changes to channel 15 then channel 9.

What is the correct point to enter the code?

Ive found a slightly differrent version of the hack , do everything listed before but press play before you enter the 159, hopefully this works!

thanks - this worked. Or at least, the dashes came up and i entered the code. Now all I need is a region 1 dvd to try it with :)

It might not be necessary to upgrade the firmware, have you tried the hack with pressing play before you enter 159
