Try This

With no disc in the machine
press"0""0""8""6""0""0""0" at the Technika blue screen
press OK
The last digit represents the Region

Thanks to TonyF for this

Apparently it is a rebadged Yamada 8400X DVD Recorder so you might want to have a look at this as well

email from the support guys at yamada.de earlier today, but couldn`t get it to work (probably just bad translation into english) - here`s how I got it to work -

1. Turn on player (with Standby button on player), without any disc in the drawer

2. When "No Disc" appears on screen, open the tray (I used the button on the player, don`t know if that matters)

3. Press 0, 0, 8, 6, 0, 0, 0 on the remote, then press "Select" on the remote
(the last number is the region setting - 0 for multiregion, other numbers for that specific region) - a 0 should appear on the screen

4. Turn player off (without closing tray first) using the button on the player.

Now when you turn on the player, it will be multiregion. I don`t know if it defeats RCE (haven`t tried it yet), but if it isn`t, try doing the hack again and setting it to the specific region of the disc.

There is a firmware update here : Yamada 8400X Firmware Update, that fixes some recording glitches and adds support for more brands of media.

http://www.umax.de/cgi-bin/treiber.pl?DVD=Y8400X&Scanner=0&OS=0&SCSI_Karte=0&DigiCam=0&Submit=Suchen+%2F+Search

I`ve used it, and it works - just download the .zip file, extract the .iso and burn to a cdr - the player will recognise it. The machine shuts down after you press OK the last time. I couldnt get mine to come out of standby (I left it for a few minutes), but unplugging it and plugging it back in brought it back to life.

[STANDARD DISCLAIMER] This worked on my machine, if something should go wrong with yours, I in no way accept responsibility (besides, Tesco should take it back if you still have the reciept).[/STANDARD DISCLAIMER]

Happy trails!

I`ve been hunting around for one myself, with no luck.

I`ve tried the suggestions posted here and they don`t seem to work.

Most of the reviews of the machine I`ve read say it can be made multi-region, but isn`t by default, which is no help at all.

Hopefully someone out there will come thorugh soon!

Hi
I too would love to know how to make my portable Technika PDVD2005 region free. Im about to emigrate to Canada so its getting kinda urgent!

The advice below doesnt seem to work, there isnt a "select" or "ok" button on the remote, and the screen is black with Technika written on it.

But any help is greatfully received and tried out!

I dont think the PDVD2005 is a rebranded Yamada though, this is a portable device, not a home hi-fi type device...

Is that where we are getting wires crossed?

Many thanks in advance!

The Technika PDVD2005 looks exactly the same as the Alba DVDP720, so it`s probably the same as some Goodmans and Bush models too...

Can`t find a hack for that either though ;-(

Have you tried the Acoustic 421 hack?

It`s listed under the Bush PDVD0706 (which is the same model as the Alba DVDP720 and Technika PDVD2005) as working, tested and no problems.

If some one can try and reply. The one I bought is now on it`s way to my daughter in New Zealand so I can`t do it myself!

Cheers.

Thorin.

None of these hacks work, however if you open the lid, press setup then enter 1369 a menu appears which shows the region code as 2(in a green rectangular block). Unfortunately that`s as far as I can get. Any suggestions as to how to change the region code?

I bought one of these players in Tesco yesterday and I`ve been searching for the Hack for 24hr`s - luckily I`ve found it - it`s the Technika DVD 105 Hack that works for the PDVD2005.

Do exactly as follows and you`ll be enjoying a region 1 as I am now.

Turn on dvd player (with no disk inside, wait till the `no disk` message comes up)
Open dvd lid using the button on dvd player
-Now using the remote-
Press 'up' 'down' 'up' 'down'
Press numbers 3,4,9,7,3,4,0 (the last digit '0' is the region, so it could be replaced with '1', '2', etc.)
You should see "region full" appear for a second or two.

Job done!

I did this 45 minutes ago and I`m now watching Final Destination on region 1.
