Toshiba-sd2700. Can it be made region free? Can the macrovision be disabled? If so, how? Please help.

Okay. I have an sd100e ~12 months old. I hear the latest sd100e`s are shipped region free. If I cant hack my unit how much is it to chip and what are the side effects.

All Toshiba players have to be chipped ... none are shipped region free from factory ... but they are sometimes upgraded by the supplier
