Thanks for info on LG2300e
I have tried to use remote hack but the player does not accept it, im told that the firmware could be an older version and that LG will recode the machine for free if under warranty ( ON THIS SITE ) is that so.
The firmware date for my player is april 2000. If you could help me i would be over the moon and be able to watch region 1 dvds and listen to DTS sound

You might want to try that as a free option, you could inform LG you are having problems with a particular disc (say Buffy box set, as they are known problem discs). If not, any reputable upgrader will offer you the same firmware upgrade, but of course, charge a fee for their time. Shop around.

I have posted a thank you to those who helped me hack my LG player yes i did say hack, it took five days, someone wrote "keep trying not to fast and not to slow it will work" with this i set to it again, now i can watch region 1 dvds.
