Right here`s a canny budget player!
Just picked it up from Richer Sounds for £99.95p it is mulit regional, by useing a very simple code off the remote, if any one would like the code, let me know and I`ll be pleased to give you it!!
If anyone has any other codes for this DVD player, please let me now, as I have not found a macrovision hack yet!!??? but i`m still working on it!
If not, it is still not a bad player! it doe`s the lot! MP3,VCD,DVD,CD-R,CD-RW,CD,DVCD so if you are looking for a cheap budget player maybe this is the one for you?!

I also have this player DVD521, but i cant get it to play a region 1 dvd of the patriot,help! I have try to access hidden menu from setup (press next,stop etc, not working)

I have the model up from this which is the 551. Does it use the same hack and can you post me the hack for the 521 please.....

Can someone please tap in 1,2,3,4,5 on the remote and tell me whether a load of numbers come up on the screen, please ?

If they do, can you write them down for me, together with (from the white sticker on the reverse of the player) the MANUF DATE and S/N (just the first three digits will do), together with the model number.

This may well be built by Taiwan giants, Sampo, which I happen to have a smidgeon of info about....

tapped in 1,2,3,4,5 just just a symbol of a hand in the corner of the screen. Man u date: not there, s/n me127d model dvd521, made in china.
Is there a macrovision hack for this player, no macro listed in the loophole menu.

I have just bought the 551 aswell, I can`t find any codes to activate the multi-region. Do you have any???

OK folks,
The 521 and 551 both use the same hack for multi region.
I have been unable to find a hack to disable the macrovision.

The hack for multiregion is: (press the following keys on remote)

"set up", "next", "stop", "pause/step", "prev", "next"

this enters a "Loopholes" menu - then press "v" to Region ID, and press ">" to By Pass (region free) or press ">" to select required region (1-8).
Then press "Play/sel" and your chosen option is set!

I have just, today 28th December 2001, purchased an Acoustic solutions DVD 521 Machine from Richer Sounds. I paid £119.95 for the machine wchich is suposidly the region free version. I cannot seem to get the region hack to work it could be the remote though as I have great difficulty using the remote for usual operation taking several attempts to manouver the highlighted / cursor around the screen.

Not sure of firmware but I know that this is the latest batch to come into richer sounds as I had to wait a week to get one. The start screen has three dolphins on a blue type underwater backgound. It has a screen saver option also. Does anyone know if the firware has been updated to not allow the multi region selection ????
