Region code hack posted by tiger, February 23 2006:
Press "Setup"
Scroll to "Preference" using the LEFT/RIGHT arrow key
Press "138931" and a pop-up screen will appear.
Use the UP/DOWN arrow key to choose the desired number.

Hi,

Recently I have purchased one DVP 3020 in Bangalore distributed by Philips India.
To my surprise, When I played a original TROY DVD, purchased in INDIA, it splashed wrong region message.
It is Phillips India`s irresponsibility to sell a player with a different REGION code in India.
How ever I could change the Region Code with this information. Thanks a lot.

I am looking to unlock my dvp3020 also, and tried the steps above but I can`t actually get into the preference menu :o(

Do you know a way around this?

Try this..The Disk tray needs to be open for the Preference option to appear.

Open Disk Tray (Leave open)
Press "Setup"
Scroll to "Preference" using the LEFT/RIGHT arrow key
Press "138931" and a pop-up screen will appear.
Use the UP/DOWN arrow key to choose the desired number

this worked well after a couple of goes,i did have to press the ok button on the first option and entered the code while this displayed ENGLISH...thank you...now i can watch my dvd`s i brought back from canada.....many thanks.....mr tim.....

I recently purchased the philips DVP3020 and was sold as multi-regional, its unable to read region DVD`s, can you help at all, please?

i just recently found the hack for this player,
and this is how it go`s
1 set up
2 goto preferences
3 put in 138931 on the remote
this should bring up a new box (if it does`nt work first time, keep tryin`)
4 use the up/down on the remote to change the region (0 for all)

:) Thank you so much. I bought this DVD for my daughter for Christmas thinking all we had to do was plug in and play. We spent hours trying to get her NTSC dvd`s to work and eventually gave up. Came across this site completely by accident this morning. Followed your instructions and it worked first time. Thanks again. ;)
