Page 1 of Just ordered the Patriot from US to test on the newest 750S

Hi,

Just to let everyone know, because theres so much doubt about it, and Im concerned my machine might not handle RCE I`ve ordered a copy of the Patriot from the US so I can run some tests.

I have the very latest 750s that does not respond to manual hacks to R1 using open drawer,1,1,1,1 then 1 for the region, so therefore cannot be manually switched to R1.

However several threads on this and other forums suggest it may still be ok, so I`ve taken the plunge so that I can find out.

If it doesn`t work I`ll return my player to the store and try sourcing one from Tesco.com wher they all seem to be the firmware that allows the manual hack.

My firmware is the one that goes to MR with STEP, PREV, NEXT and back to R2 with SLOW, PREV, NEXT.

It normally takes just over a week for disks to come, so as soon as I have the test results, I`ll post them here :-)

Or don`t.. if I was going to spend more than £50 over the price of the wharfedale, i`d rather get a cheap branded make, a pioneer or something on sale..

I too have ordered this disc, and am wondering if anyone has heard how it performs on a Matsui-110?
I have set mine to multiregion, but can manually reset to R-1 if necessary.
Yes, as a historian specialising in the period covered, I can safely say the film was appalling propaganda. On the other hand, I went into it rooting for our guys anyway... Jason Isaacs swashbuckles splendidly!

You should of ordered it from Play247.com , They only take a couple of working days to deliver .
And on the subject of the Patriot . Can`t you English see that it is just a movie and nothing else . No one has ever said that its a true historical movie . Just like U-571 and Braveheart , Me being Scottish knew that you had to take Braveheart with a pinch of salt .But it made me proud to be Scottish , just like Patriot was meant for the American audience . the movie wasn`t made for the English market .

I`m a Scot, and a professional historian, and thought `Braveheart` was historically was one of the worst films I`ve ever seen in misrepresenting the characters, material culture, geography, chronology &c. (Where was King John? Where was Andrew Moray? Why was Wallace wearing a kilt, painted blue and living in a Hobbit village?)
And given that the British Army (not `English`) in the American War was around a quarter Scots (including some of the most impressive field officers), with a fair no. of Irish too, and that many of the Loyal American settlers were also Scots (and ended up as refugees - some of my own family included), I think we`ve reason to be pretty miffed at `The Patriot` too.

but it was because those upper class twat generals didnt take the colonials serious at first and by the time they did, they where battle hardened and ready to stand, fight & win, rather then just pick us off every now and then.

But the bloody frogs tipped the balance.
