Hi

I have seen a good price for the tosh 210e. Speaking to the call centre person (who did at least go and speak to someone else) reported that this was multi region adapted through a software upadate, not chipped. Do any people out there no where this is possible. The website said it was not RCE c ompatible, is this likely to be true or will the start off with a no RCE disk likely to still work?

yes the tosh 210e cab be adapted,not chipped with a software upgrade done by a professional chipper/reprogrammer(checkout www.dvdchips.co.uk)

as for rce titles the tosh will play these with a simple code press on the remote control which follows

insert disk
wait for map of the world
press memory
press 01
press play
movie will now play

Thanks for the advice. I have gone ahead and ordered one. If anyone is interested it was from be-direct for 175 as suggest in another thread. I tried Richer for a price match but they had none in stock.

If you have a problem with "RCE" encoded discs on this machine, then:-
Play a non "RCE" disc for few seconds, then play your "RCE" disc and all should be ok.

Yes that`s correct scumbag for this machine .... not often Wonder is wrong ... he probabily misread the model number

I too would like to order this machine, but does anyone know if the remote hack will only play the movie or goes it go through to the menu and access the extras.

Also has the does the macrovision get disabled when there a software upgrade.

No, the Macrovision doesn`t get disabled with the software "flash". It MUST be chipped for macro off. To play RCE, just spin a regular R1 disc first.
