Page 1 of Samsung 511 can you hack firmware 4.04

I have tried to hack my Samsung 511 DVD with out any luck using the instructions found at the Sumsung firmware site, this hack was for firmware versions from 3.23 to 3.32A.The version in my player is 4.04 is there another hack needed for this version

Which version of 4.04 is it? If it`s a non-US version then it can be hacked using the standard method (the one given for 709 versions 3.23-3.32A). US versions of 511 firmware cannot be hacked at all.

I have removed the lid of my dvd and the info on the chip is as follows
dvd 511/xeu ver 4.04 sd 2000 .06 .09.
On the rear (outside) it sayes made in republic of Corea it also has US patent nos
Are you able to tell from this if the dvd is of US origin

If it is can you tell me where I can get a chip that will let me hack my player.

XEU is a European (region 2) version. 4.04 XEU has been tested and is fully hackable using the standard REPEAT method, with 38767 as the code - does this not work for you?

Just to clarify the method:

1) Turn on the player (press POWER). Make sure the tray is closed and no disc is inserted.
2) Hold down PLAY and STOP on the front of the player until the language select screen appears.
3) Press a number key to select the language of your choice. The Samsung logo should then appear on screen, with a "No Disc" message in the top left corner.
4) Press the following keys in sequence: REPEAT, 3, 8, 7, 6, 7. Make sure you press REPEAT and not REPEAT A-B. After you`ve entered this code, the number "02" should be visible in the top left hand corner of the screen.
5) Press 9 on the remote, the number should change to "09". Immediately (i.e. *before* the number "09" disappears from the screen) press EJECT on the remote to open the tray.
6) When the tray is fully open, press POWER on the remote. This will close the tray and turn off the player.
7) Press POWER again to turn the player back on. Your player should now be multi-region and capable of playing any disc.


If you have problems, please let me know where your sticking point is - e.g. does the number "02" not appear on screen?

My mate owns the M104B and the 02 does not appear with this hack. Is it a different hack for this model. Any help appreciated.Cheers

Thanks for your latest info. I have followed your instructions to the letter and I am glad to say it has worked. I have tried this hack before without success I think the reason for this was that I did not press eject button before the number 09 disappeared

Hello Mike, thanks for the information. I have a Samsung M301 I wanto to convert to Multi-reg.
Is this procedure has to be made each time or is permanent multi reg.
I purchase this DMV in U.S.A but I am at Mexico and here the video stores only have region 04.
