Phillips 756 How do I ? firmware ver & region lock

Hi Guys, Hope someone can help I`m looking to find my firmware version & how to make my player region free.The player is now a year old so out of warranty,I have tried the remote codes but the drawer locks up & wont accept any dvd`s.Thanks in advance Mark.
