Page 1 of DVD-HD870 Samsung

Hi,

I have just taken delivery of a Samsung DVD-HD870 (Region 2); or rather I should say a DVD-HD870/XEU.

It`s this little XEU on the end that worries me: I have repeatedly (excuse the pun) tried the <Repeat>5 7 5 3 8 <Region Code> hack - but it will not work.

I know there have been posts on different groups stating that some people have had to try the hack over & over before it worked, but I must have done this a hundred times by now.

Does anyone, anyone at all know of a different hack for this machine?

I would say that most of my DVD collection are non-Region 2 discs, so I`m a bit stuck!

For the HD870 at least to get the region hack to work you need to downgrade the firmware.

Go here http://www.samsung.com/pl/products/dvdplayer/dvdplayer/dvd_hd870.asp

its in Polish but click on the link down the bottom called "tutaj" in blue.

Then burn the files to a CD and use this to downgrade the firmware in the player. Then the region hack should work.

Not tried this myself but I got this info of avforums.

Ive tried this hack many times now and cannot get it to work. Ive also been to the polish site and downloaded the firmware information, whenever i try to put tis in the player however i just get a screen as if its trying to play the cd-r as a music disc and it doesnt offer any of the options i have read about in forums.
I really like this player but need it to be multi region.....can anybody help??
