Page 1 of wharfdale 750- The Patriot will not play!!

Although I apparently have the correct 40 pin firmware ic chip (CS=CBE8)
the patriot still will not play. As this is the only region 1 disk I have I cannot tell if it is a problem with the hack or not. Has Any one got any ideas or suggestions before I go mad!!!!

Can you elaborate on `it won`t play`, what does the player say if you try to run it.

if its a picture of the continents of the world showing region number with a message that says your trying to play a disc from a different region then your most likely hitting RCE.

However if its just the `invalid region` error then it could be just that the hack didn`t take correctly.

What hack did you try and what was the response from the player when you entered it ???

I should be getting new chip soon,I have many R1 titles and will be able to confirm if chip works or not.....I hope!

Its the RCE screen that appears., have tried the 0123 play hack, plus the hacks for the 750s. would the screen flash region free if the hack was correct?, because nothing is happening at all it just goes straight to the RCE screen and stops.

Did your Wharfedale 750 come with the CBE8 firmware or have you had the chip upgraded ?

According to several reports in this forum and others the CBE8 should play The Patriot.

To answer you question about "Would the screen flash region free if the hack was correct?" No. The 750 model does not display a message.

I hope someone would be able to help with this problem as I too can not at present play The Patriot.

I am from the USA and have a Fisher player that is hardwired for zone 1, and the Patriot will not play in mine either. Great was to sell DVD`s

The reason it won`t play is because alot of new Region 1 DVD`s are being especially modified so they will only work on Region 1 specific players. Meaning that they will not work on Multi Regions. This is a pain in the arse for obvious reasons. Lets hope they don`t do it too often!
Some players will still play it, but it seems to be purely luck if it does. Another DVD I know which is also specially modified is "Perfect Storm".

He he he ... this is SO obvious ... you dont have any region 1 disks so you cannot hack your player it is as simple as that ... dont be fooled .. the patriot is NOT a true region 1 disk so cannot be used to do the hack .. the patriot is infact a region 0 disk with a routine to check the region of the player ... get yourself a region 1 disk .. do the hack again and you will then see the patriot play :)
