The DV450 is totally sold out (although, rather obscurely, Virgin megastore got hold of a few last month and sold them for £99).

The only Sampo players currently on sale in the UK at the moment are :

Wharfedale M5 (Tesco Extra stores only - but hurry :the last ones are going quick and there are no plans to restock) - this is a DVE360 clone, and can be hacked for multiregion playback but the only way to disable Macrovision is to buy something like a Macmaster, or get it chipped : £150 Futuretronic do a VCR friendly one for £200, although Wharfedale don`t recognise them as authorised dealers

Sharp DV740H (cheapest http://www.empiredirect.co.uk - buy before 31st December 2001 and get three free DVDs) - a clone of the US-only DVE611 which can be hacked, as long as you have access to a CD-writer : £130

Digitron DVS360 (sold exclusively by Futuretronics, but rather overpriced - also a clone of the DVE360, but the Wharfedale has an additional on board dts decoder) : can be bought multi-region and VCR friendly £200

Reoc A5 (not to be confused with the Reoc A3 - instore at Safeway, also hackable via a text file burned onto a CD, like the Sharp player) - £130

Sadly, the DVE560 (which the Encore player was based upon) is no longer obtainable in the UK - you can still get them in France, Italy and New Zealand though !

Everything about Sampo players is at my website http://www.area450.com
