the 8 4 2 1 produces _ _ _ then goes of the screen nothing else happens Help Help Help

Just checking ... you did hit the ENTER button after the numbers and then continue ENTERING to get to 9. I don`t know anything else - that is for the Pacific dvd1000

If you use the search box on this forum for "Pacific" you will find that there were two versions of the Pacific 1000 which were unhackable(quite old threads)and you may have a rogue version as well!
