Page 1 of My player cannot read dvd`s
Hack Help Forum
Hi,
I am from the UK.
I have a Panasonic DVD - A 360 multi-region dvd player that has somehow stoped wanting to play certain dvd`s. I am trying to play region 2 dvd`s as well R1 and I sometimes get a message "Unable to play that dvd"
At first I thought it was some special code that was in the dvd`s I bought and it was refusing to be played on a chipped player but I then tried to play a region 2 dvd that had been played before on this machine without problems. NOW it wont play.
Any Ideas as to what the problem is?
Dave

RE: My player cannot read dvd`s
If it plays CD Audio, Video CD and single layer dvd`s fine then it`s possibly your laser. Check that the discs that you are playing to see if they`re dual layered, usually that`s a tell tale sign that your laser may be on the way out.
You can try a dvd lens cleaner, they cost around £5. If you want your laser fised it could get costly. The unit isn`t that expensive, around £65-£80, but the labour charge will certainly kill off the machine! SO it`s probably time to think about an upgrade. The new generation Panasonics aint all that, try a Pioneer or something similar.
Is there a quick way to wear out your laser?
It may sound a stupid question but I have a crap DVD player with a five year waranty. If the player costs to much to repair or takes to long, I get a new player, which will at least be an updated version of mine or at best, another make of player.
