Page 1 of sharp dv740 hack needed

do any of you guys out there know of a region hack and macro disable for this machine ?or if there are any probs with it.i`m still looking for a player that can do both for backing up onto vhs, budget of abt £200 max,anyone any suggestions.

No macro disable on UK firmware (but there is on an unofficial Oz firmware version for the DV740X which you can use with a limited degree of success of the UK player), and a very obscure region hack via a CD-R upgrade which you can perform yourself :

In terms of a VCR friendly/multi-region unit I believe the Sainsbury`s budget special Mico player may be a good choice or, if you can find one, the Dansai 852 from Tesco - both are around £100
