Hi,

Can someone advise me on the `hack` for this player? (if there is one!)

Thanks in advance.

Xile

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, could you tell me how much this would cost etc, and how long the general turn-around is for this procedure?

Also, this ain`t my machine, its a friend in Ireland.

Thanks in advance.
Michael (yeah, I`m a Michael too lol)

Try this and tell me if it works. I have not tested it yet but I have found the news on the web.
Insert region1 disk and wait for cannot play disk
Press memory
select title1 chapter1
press play & then clear
the film will, hopefully, now play

Hi,
tried it with Terminator 2 but it didn`t work. I have some more disks coming so I will try again.

I wonder how many more times the RCE workaround for Toshibas will appear as a potential region hack.....

In other words: It doesn`t work.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHIP TOUR MOTHERBOARD YOUR SELF. I had tried that and failed and the result was: the mpeg board became useless as the solder whent all over the place which conncted other microwires which were making contact with their adjucent ones. In addition I destroyed other parts of the dvd with th hot solder.

FOR A REPLACEMENT of the motherboard WE ARE TALKING FOR £200 and as a comparison I BOUGHT MY Toshiba 2109B DVD player for only £150 from DABS (special propmotion that lasted one day).

On the other hand the cost of sending it to the place and chipping it is excesively high.

The decison is yours but if i costs you £60 to £80 to chip it or dowanload a multiregion software on it and compare it with the cheapest DVD player which is multiregion at only £120 then the price for chipping is rediculous.

This is anyway my oppinion but definetely do not try to chip it your self as the probabilities of destroying your DVD player and chucking it away are higher.

I will say no more. The choice is yours.

Many people have fitted our chip sucessfully ... and at £25 it is a bargain

Well, I am a computer frick, and I have also built my own computer from parts. In addition the warranty by chipping becomes void and if you make a mess then you the only option you face is to buy a new DVD player which is good business for you as you are going to sell more multiregion DVD players. Well as I see it, I will never chip my DVD player again. The only option I have now is to install a downloadable hack for my TOSHIBA 2109B (I managed to fix my MPEG card for £100 plus postage not to mension the hack chip for £30) however the cost prohibits me of doing so. Not to mension that the downloadable multiregion firmware hack which I have installed in my creative dxr2 dvd player only took 10 seconds.

If you can manage the risk then the risk is yours. Face the consequences of your actions.

Total cost: Toshiba 2109B DVD player: £150
Chip: £30
Delivery charges: £10
Cost of repairing Mpeg card: £100

Total: £290
