Looking at buying a DVD/VCR Combo. Is Samsung any good?

Adrian 0001 (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 12th June 2002, 07:38

The time has come for me to finally purchase a DVD player. Our old VCR is also on the way out so I thought this is an ideal time to buy a combo unit. I was thinking of the NEW Samsung model SV-DVD3E (also know as V2000 in USA and V7000 in Australia).
Does anyone own one or knows much about thier functionality and reliability? Is it also possible to make them region free?

Thanks in advance,
Adrian

I`ve got the earlier one, the SV-DVD1E and I have had no problems with it. The hack (which is on this site) worked fine for me no problem. It does not (as far as I know) remove the macrovision though. Haven`t tried it for MP3, etc.

Overall I think it is a really good player, I`ve also got a Samsung 511 and had no problems with that either.

Hope this helps :-)
