AIWA Problem

David S (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Friday, 1st December 2000, 09:31

I´ve just bought a brand new Aiwa 370. It seems to me that it is a very good machine, but i have had a couple of problems with it:

1. The picture is jumping! When a i just watch the "Aiwa" logo, the whole picture jumps every 30 seconds sometims. Might be the telly or the cable though. I have an old Bang & Olufsson. What kind of cable do i nedd to get the best picture?? A RGB scart??? Is it more expensive than a normal scart cable??

2. My mp3´s wont play! The disc just loads, and loads, and loads...then after 5 minuts the player goes off by itself! My mp3´s might have been burnt in the wrong way??!! Hoe do i burn for the Aiwa??

Would be thankfull gor every help I can get

By RGB you mean the 3 separate cables? If so, that is the best quality, but is generally only supported on newer TVs. It is called component video here in the US.

For MP3`s, I burn them as data files (iso9660) and closeout/finalize the session. Have had no problems with it other than the short filename display. I also have an Aiwa CDC-MP3 car stereo which will do random tracks and ID tag support. I don`t know why they didn`t include that with the DVD unit.

I have a friend desperately trying to buy this player. Where did you get yours?

RGB has been supported on most TV`s since about 8 years ago.
And almost EVERY one with a scart socket on the rear (except the cheapo stuff...Bang and Olafson sure as hell aint in the cheapo dept.)

An "RGB" scart is a standard, 21 pin fully wired scart lead, and usually does composite video too.
Make sure the TV is set to RGB or the scart is plugged in to AV1.

However, if you`re using a SCART and there is no vibration when the pictures jumping, return the player.
It must be faulty.

Regardless of how you have linked the player, it shouldn`t jump, but returning to the store to get it checked at least will rule the player out if nothing else.

Mail me for anything else on the Aiwa if you like. :o)

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!!!
