Amp/Receiver recommendation needed please!
Hi guys, i`m looking to step up my AV system a bit, and would like to get an amp, or ideally, a receiver. My requirements are that it should handle DTS and DD 5.1, be black, and have a reasonable level of output. Loudness isn`t as important as quality though. I was looking at the Pioneer VSX-D510 - it`s "midnight listening" mode sounded (no pun intended) interesting, and useful. I was going to buy this from Techtronics, but my order was cancelled because it was out of stock with the manufacturer. So, if I can`t get this anymore, i`d ideally like something similar. To get to the point (sorry for rambling) can anyone recommend a suitable substitute, ideally less than £150, and a place to buy it (websites included, and preferable as I dont get much time for shopping).
Ta muchly.
RE: Amp/Receiver recommendation needed please!
http://www.richer.co.uk - they have the VSXD510 for £109 (plus £9 delivery).
You may like to stretch the budget a bit though, as more recent receivers such as the Denon 1602 have prologic2 decoding - useful if you want to watch tv/satellite/VCR films with approaching 5.1 sound.
RE: Amp/Receiver recommendation needed please!
Only problem is it`s out of stock! DOH! Thanks for the help though. Don`t think i`d use prologic 2 - dont watch much telly, don`t have satellite, and VCR don`t get used much. And I really liked the specs of this - it seems well suited to my needs. Does anyone here have one and want to tell me how good it is? ;-)

Sorry Bill - I only glanced at the page, and I saw a "buy" button, so assumed it was available.
Found it here http://www.dvdmagic.net/amps/p510.html for £129 inc delivery, if it`s any help!
RE: Amp/Receiver recommendation needed please!
Hi Bill - I am very pleased with my Sherwood RD6106 from Richer Sounds. It`s currently available for £199 on the website but I paid £150 instore when I went in for a Yamaha they didn`t have...it has all your requirements, loads of inputs/outputs, is black, is a receiver and looks the business - check it out.
The Sherwoods are definitely worth a look, as are the sub £200 Yamahas...
