Page 1 of LG 32" Widescreen - or is it? Please Help...

Hi all - I`ve just bought an LG RI32CZ10RX from HiEnergyShop.co.uk for £379 delivered. It`s a decent enough TV with 2 scarts and I`m happy with the picture etc but I`m experiencing 2 problems...

I`ve hooked my digital cable box into scart1 as instructed and my dvd player into scart2.The TV is setup to autodetect AV so when you turn it on it goes straight to digital cable. OK so far. The TV has 4:3 & 16:9 switchable modes amongst others and it`s set for 16:9 to be the default. Still OK...so...

Question 1: Why are the ends of words still missing off the sides of the screen?!?!?!? I sold the whole "new TV" thing to my wife on this point and am now getting it in the neck. I know that Telewest broadcast in widescreen so now I`ve got a widescreen TV showing in 16:9 I should see everything right???

Question 2: When I turn the TV power off from the front panel, on turning it back on the TV comes on in 4:3 mode even though the TV setup is 16:9, why is this?

This is going to sound dull, but have you changed your settings in your telewest digi box to 16:9? It may still be set to 4:3!

The Telewest digibox has settings ????

I presume that the telewest and ntl boxes are very similar. with ntl and sky digi boxes you have the option to select what format the box displays it`s picture with. I dare say that if you go into the settings it`s set to 4:3. Have a fiddle.

And this would be on the box itself or in an on-screen menu?

Should be an onscreen menu that you can access from your remote, usually under tv settings.

No luck with the digibox idea - there`s nothing in any menu I can find nor on the box itself...

Got any other ideas?

Julian Telewest digital box has got 16:9 setting in on screen menu as I used to have it, but sorry to say I cant remember where it was exactly in the menu but it is there somewhere :o)
