Gurjinder (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 5th November 2002, 20:27

I have just tried to record A divX from my PC to Philips recorder with great succsess. All i need to know is i can record files that are over 120 minutes long on the 4.7GIG DVD+RW, and how. Will these discs playback in all dvd players.

Also will i be able to record on to DVD-R in the future

If you want to know what i transfered it was pulp fiction.

Yes you can record more than 120 minutes even though the DVD+RW disc only advertises itsself as going upto 120min. On the 880 player just press the `Select` button, you`ll cycle through the different modes

HQ - 60 min
SP - 120 min
LP - 180 min
EP - 240 min

By doing a firmware update (which I did on my 980 and it works fine) you can alsor ecord at 2.5hrs and 6hrs.
