Multi-Region prob (Scan 2000)

mushroom (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 15th November 2002, 20:47

I have a Scan-2000 multi-region player but am having some problems. We entered the multi-region hack when we first purchased the player and it played all regions perfectly. Recently however, it has started having problems playing all DVD`S. It begins reading the disc, but then starts making `can`t read the disc` noises. It just keeps whirring and whirring. The resolution for this is tp keep powering off and on the unit, and eventually it will play.
It was originally just with non American disc`s but it has now started doing it with region 2 - Lord of the Rings extended edition (region 2) in particular.
Any ideas anyone? I have heard that disc manufacturers are making the disc`s slightly different weights to prevent multi-region playing...could this be the issue???
Please help?!

Its not RCE Region Coding Enhancement kicking in is it? In which case you`ll probably need to set the region on the machine to the same as the one on the media.

My son had problems with his Scan 2000 not reading DVDr`s. We upgraded the firmware and its now playing them. This may help with your problem.
