Page 1 of URGENT NEED OF HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE

I need help Urgently Please.I bought the Optim DS-8302 DVD player on Ebay from a German company,which i have played & everything is working great except that the only language i can get on the language menu is German, i am in need of a Patch that i can Download to enable me to have the menu in English.I conntacted the suppliers, but they have informed me that there is no patch as this DVD player is no longer being made.

Other Players mentioned below are of the exact same spec.
Mediencom DS-8302
Dessy DS-8302
Dansai DVD852
Technika DVD512


I Hope someone out there can be my Saviour, or else i may have to take Lessons in german......

I don`t know if this will help or not.
On the Dansai 852, to get into the secret menu, you have to do the following things:

1, press "SETUP" button on the REMOTE
2, Press "STOP" on the FRONT PANEL of the dvd player
3, Press "PREVIOUS" on the FRONT PANEL of the dvd player
4, Press "NEXT" on the FRONT PANEL of the dvd player
5, now you should be in the secret menu.

1) Setup
2) `Grundeinstellung` then enter/play
3) `OSD Sprache` then enter/play
4) Chose Englisch then enter/play
5) Setup

and you should be there unless the firmware has been deliberately modified.

Hi thanks for your help, but im still a bit confused ,what does Grundeinstellung mean? as that word does not appear on my menu if you could be more clear i would really appreciate it, & yes i am a novice at all this DVD stuff as you can tell.

I have tried to do what you have said, but as im so confused i doubt if im doing it right.

Well thanks Grommit for your help ,but Unfortunatly that did not work. I think i may just have to put up with the German language menu forever unless some kind soul has the answer for me,lol

Probably best if you tell me what does appear on your menu after you press `setup` on the remote. Then I can steer you from there.

Guess the first word must be `Sprache` = `language`
Try enter or play for that option and it will likely bring you to englisch, chose that and again enter etc. and see what happens.

Why do you think it is a clone of the Dansai ?
I entered the name and number into Google and it threw up masses of references to the machine in german, english and french together with the remote codes needed to make it a) regionfree and b) Macrovisionfree.
these were nothing like the codes for the Dansai, but you can find them at

The maker is given as TECO in Taiwan
Ok it seems to have Kareoke inputs but that is found on several Chinese DVDs and it doesn`t mean that the firmware is identical.

Hi images, ok first of i found a region code that works on my DVD player

i just key in 8,4,2,1 that enables me to select all regions
& to get Macrofree i just key in 6,8,6,9
They are both working great, i have also checked on the box that the Dvd palyer came in & it does say it was made in China
I will go & do what you have suggested as regards to getting the English menu up & i will let you know if that worked.

Ok i have tried Presing enter & play in that option but still the same the only language is still DEUTSCH
In the actual Menu when i enter Sprache i have
OSD MENU =DEUTSCH
UNITERTITEL=DEUTSCH,can set that to either AUTO OR AUS=OFF
AUDIO=DEUTSCH
DVDMENU=DEUTSCH
OSD=OPTION EIN OR AUS i have thatin Ein for on
FEHLER=Which is on AUS for off

As you can see it says that Even an English Manual is supplied with it, but there wasn`t that to was in German, i had to downlaod a English Version from this web site http://www.playtra.de/

Pleased you have made progress
Can you set the OSD Menu=English ?
Try setting the subtitles to Auto if English is not an option
Fehler is `error correction` and probably best left OFF

By the way the codes you entered differ from those that I saw published, but no matter, the result is what counts. It certainly isn`t a Dansai since that has a hidden menu to access the region code and Macrovision.
At least you now have a working system.
