Any dvd/vhs combi`s play dvd+rw discs?

Mac-g (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 16th December 2002, 17:50

I`ve got a Philips DVDR880 and am thinking of getting a dvd/vhs combi player for the bedroom. I would prefer one that can play the DVD+RW discs I have recorded on the Philips. Does anyone know if such a machine exists, and if so where I can get one?

I have a Philips DVDR890 and I have recorded on a DVD+RW and played it back on a Sharp dvd/vhs combi player without any problems. Not sure of the model number, but it has two displays (one orange and one green) with a central orange dvd/vhs button. I have heard that DVD+RW`s are compatible of a lot more makes of dvd players than is led to believe.

Thanks for the advice, Metaphysical, I will look at the Sharp combis in a new light now. I think you`re right about more makes being compatible, perhaps they just don`t want to make claims that could land them in trouble if anyone has problems getting DVD+RW discs to play on them.
